The book of Amos is divided nicely into 5 segments. It presents us with a legal argument of the case against God’s people. At the forefront, we meet a shepherd, Amos, fresh from the hills of Takoa, with his only credentials being that “God told me to speak!” And yet this meager man from the mountains speaks with such profound skills of oration that the body of his presentation would cause even the most learned attorney to stand up and take notice. This book provides us with overwhelming evidence against God’s people and those whom He has blessed, providing us with proof that his words must have come from God.
